We’ve all been there. Festival campsite, middle of the night, pitch dark. You make it to the loo, but on the way back – just as the end is in sight – you end up going arse-over-tit in the mud because you didn’t see that uneven ground. Well a natty new festival gadget looks set to fix that.

Following on from that wind up headlight MCT mentioned earlier, Energizer – yup, the battery people – have come up with a new range of LED headlights, and there’s not a fluffy pink bunny with a drum in sight.

The advanced headlight (pictured) has 6 LEDs to give you handsfree light on your way back to the tent (or to keep your hands free once you’re
inside it, if you’re like that…) Not only have you got a 4 LED beam for a big blast of light, you’ve got two red LEDs for night vision – well, that or drunkenly pretending you’re a crack Army commando on a secret midnight mission.

Practicalities aside, the two focused white LEDs could be a whole lot of fun. The suggested use is “spot projection”, but I’m thinking Orbital style rave lights? You know it makes sense. Plus the two wider LEDs can be focused into a spotlight – and with 75 hours' battery power the possibilities there are endless.

For the first time that I can recall, there’s actually a headlight on the market that looks quite sexy and not like there’s a miner somewhere with a depleted kit. And coming in at just under twenty quid a pop, what’s not to love? Snap one up and let the spotlight fun begin.
