leonalewis.gifIt’s true. Despite ten weeks at No.1 – long enough to prompt superstitious types to suspect some kind of hex had been put on our summer – Rihanna’s “Umbrella” only comes in at No.3 on the list of 2007′s best-selling singles. The figures have been revealed by the statto types at The Official Charts Company, which sounds like a made-up organisation but apparently is not.
Leona Lewis’s “Bleeding Love” has only been at number one for three weeks, but it’s still outsold the No.2 best-seller, Mika’s “Grace Kelly”, by over 10,000 “units”.

Obviously there are still a fair few weeks until the end of the year – with the big Christmas hitters still to come – but if Leona continues to bleed love everywhere she’s going to have a pretty good shot at retaining the year’s best-seller spot at the close of 2007.
The big news as far as I’m concerned, though, is that The Fray’s diabolical mawkfest, “How To Save A Life” is also in the top ten – number five, to be precise. Just goes to show what an emotionally manipulative video full of blubbing will do for your career.

Have your say!
