jamie_lidell.gifJamie Lidell’s Jim album came out recently to acclaim and/or disappointment, depending on how much of a hardcore fan you are of his – oh yes – “earlier stuff”.
Yup, Lidell’s one of those former underground types who now appears to be – BASTARD – looking to sell a few records. My esteemed colleague, and editor of terrific men’s fashion blog Brandish, Isabelle O’Carroll, is a long-time fan. She went along to his long sold-out show at Koko t’other night. What thunk she?
- How did you rate the venue?
I’ve never been to KOKO before, but it’s really sumptuous. I like the multiple balconies, and the actual floor space isn’t too big.

- What were the crowd like?
Really up for it, understandably – this was Jamie’s 1st live date in a good while.
- Was the support act any good or did it send you to the bar?
Mara Carlysle was very good and she joined Jamie later for a duet.
- Bar – rip-off or value for money?
I’ve heard Koko is overpriced for drinks, and I couldn’t be bothered to booze anyway.
- Venue staff – nice or nasty?
Didn’t really notice either way.
- Toilets – swilling with piss, or spick and span?
I didn’t use them… (No booze *or* lavatorial activities?! Cuh – Ed)
- Highlight / lowlight of show?
Probably the messianic bearded sax player picking up, and playing two saxophones at once. Overall it was a great show, Jamie excelled at his trademark live sampling and the band worked really well together, playing tambourines dancing and joking around together which made a really good atmosphere.

Have your say!
