Combat British festival elements with the 70 mph Senz Umbrella
Gadgets, Garments, Gifts & Gear
How very British of me to write about an umbrella in the middle of July. But my brolly died last week after being whipped inside out by the good old UK “summertime”, and I suspect mine wasn’t the only one to suffer such a fate. If I’d been at a festival, left to the mercy of opportunistic umbrella-hawkers, I would have been mighty miffed.
Which brings me to the Senz Stealth Umbrella: nowt less than a revolution in wind and rain protection.
It’s designed specifically to resist high winds – the makers claim it can hold its shape in gales of up to 70 mph. Of course that’s the kind of promise that sets people a challenge, so you can find people testing it on YouTube. It fairs very well, with its distinctive shape highlighting the fact that the conventional umbrella design the human race has been persevering with for ?! years isn’t especially great.
The Senz isn’t cheap, but theoretically you shouldn’t have to fork out for another brolly until you leave it on the bus. Depending on your absent-mindedness, this could prove a genuine bargain. I guess the next step is for them to come up with a way for us not leave it on public transport.
