Billboard honours women in music; that's twenty record company execs and three artists
The third annual Billboard “Women In Music” breakfast took place last week, and will no doubt prove very inspiring to young ladies thinking of entering the music industry. The last couple of years, after all, have been something of a golden age for female artists.
Blondie’s Debbie Harry was presented with the Icon Award, which is fair enough really – she has done a lot of iconic-type stuff over the years. What of more modern acts, though? Well, Ciara was awarded “Woman Of The Year”, which is interesting when you consider that all she’s actually released in 2008 is one single, “Go Girl”. However Ciara was able to assure the audience that she’ll be releasing a whole album next year.
The third artist award was for the year’s Rising Star. Sadly Billboard’s own site, Billboard.biz, seems to have forgotten to whom they awarded that one (click image to enlarge).
Still, as you’ll see when you click on the image, at least they remembered the names, positions and companies of all twenty industry executives they also decided to honour.
