Nickelback's "Photograph" isn't beyond parody after all
I’ve mused on Nickelback’s lyrics previously, but it is a subject worth revisiting. Especially when a video emerges which does most of the piss-taking for me.
“Photograph” was always an odd little song. The couplet that kicks the lyrical nonsense off, of course, is:
How did our eyes get so red?
And what the hell is on Joey’s head?
The second line in particular, I’m sure I don’t need to tell you, is one of the most perplexing in modern music.
As far as songs that required parodying go, I wouldn’t have placed “Photograph” near the top of the list. However, Bloomington Bros are a couple of chaps who have decided to cover the song with lyrics that detail their own youth. So instead of “I was so nervous I almost missed” we get “when we kissed I grabbed her boob”, and so on. It’s pretty funny – check it out over the page.
