Elton John, The Killers and Neil Tennant may have recorded the worst Christmas song ever

elton_the_killers_neil_tennant_video.jpgAnd that’s a tough class, remember. The normally unfailingly polite Arjan refers to “Joseph, Better You Than Me” as a “questionable little piece of work”, which actually equates to a foul-mouthed tirade. And he’s right, it is “questionable”.
It is definitely more Elton than Neil Tennant/The Killers, that’s for sure. It’s so overblown and dull that the first two minutes feel like four. The last three minutes, meanwhile, feel like seventeen.
Perhaps the chaps involved realised they had crapped out a right old stinker. It would explain why none of them appear in the video, which is instead a patchwork quilt of stitched-together stock footage assembled in a “can I go home now?” manner by whichever poor sod got the job.
Have I sold it to you? Then click over to experience. Otherwise, let’s all just move along and pretend this didn’t happen, ‘kay?

It’s for charity. They gave their time, money and name in the name of raising money for people worse off than most of us. If your negative review stops people purchasing – I hope you feel suitably ashamed. What have you ever done for charity ?

  2. Stuart Waterman says:

If my paltry collection of words dissuades people from purchasing this song – whether by affecting their personal music taste, or their charitable instincts – they were never that sold on it in the first place. And I’ve done a lot for charity, but I don’t like to talk about it.

I am a HUGE killers fan and when I first watched the video I was bored. However, as I listened to it a few more times I just fell in love. I can’t get enough of it. I have found the songs that have real depth and meaning aren’t always as appealing at first. However, after listening to them a few times and thinking about their meaning they can affect you deeply. And if you are familiar with the Killers more than just their radio hits, you’d understand that it is very Killers. Neil Tennant on the other hand, not so much. haha But it was great to hear his voice in there. Thanks.
