This is a video of a man called Teletext Alex (probably not his real name) singing Slade’s “Merry Christmas Everybody” on Radio Five Live, with the usual lyrics replaced by the names of footballers.
Why? I do not know. But the overall effect is a bit like hearing the song sung in Klingon. Which, to my mind, is an improvement. And I’m not even a Trekkie.

It was a follow up to his incredible Bohemian Rhapsody.
I think he cropped up during 6-0-6 past too, but I forget how or why.

  2. Stu says:

He was a caller to Danny Baker’s show in the old days — I think it was during his stint on Talk Radio. He’d follow a football match by watching score change on the Ceefax page for the match and report back when the number had gone up either way. That’s how he ended up being called Teletext Alex. He’s been a fixture on Baker’s various football shows and podcasts ever since.
