Donny Osmond went all lunatic the other week

You thought Donny and Marie Osmond turned out OK, didn’t you? Well Marie seems to be alright, but sadly the same can’t be said for the Donald. Check out this gallery of him going quite literally nutso on TV in a country called Northern America.
Donny and his sis were performing for a show named Good Morning America when his unfortunate unhinging became apparent. Sad times.

Bon Iver plays new song “Blood Bank” at Montreal show

02BonIver Bon Iver plays new song Blood Bank at Montreal showBeen a while since we had a Bon Iver corner round these parts, and I reckon hearing a new song is a pretty good way to remedy that.
The Middle Distance Runner posted this live footage of “Blood Bank” a month or so back, along with a pretty comprehensive review, and although the video isn’t great the sound is pretty terrific. And it’s a nice tune on first listen, more upbeat than we’ve become used to while remaining identifiably Iver-ish.

Conor Oberst and the Mystic Valley Band: “Souled Out!!!”

conor oberst souled out Conor Oberst and the Mystic Valley Band: Souled Out!!!
Oh yeah, I was supposed to go and check out Bright Eyes’ back catalogue at some point in my life, wasn’t I?
If you’ve previously been put off Conor Oberst’s/Bright Eyes’ material due to its perceived self-conscious schmindieness, this little number will likely come as a very pleasant surprise.
“Souled Out” is basically a rather good country rock song, complete with widdly guitars. And Conor actually seems to be enjoying himself a little bit, which is always nice to see in an artist previously considered somewhat po-faced.
Check the video after the jumpness.

Rod Stewart looks like some kind of beautiful old angel of rock

If I look this good dressed all in white at the age of 63, with a hot younger woman traipsing around behind me and little paunchy bald dudes looking on in awe, I’ll know I sold my soul to the right guy.

Kanye West is just the latest rapper to save time by using a puppet in his video

kanye champion Kanye West is just the latest rapper to save time by using a puppet in his videoAs puppet-based videos go, Kanye’s “Champion” is pretty darn good. The Kanye doll even has his now-trademark funny white glasses. If you thought using a cuddly version of himself was a novel move you’d be wrong though - it’s a tried and tested way for your busy/lazy/wasted pop star to produce a video without actually having to think about/appear in it.
You want a reminder? Head over to Complex Blog for a rather entertaining “Unauthorized History Of Puppets In Hip-Hop”. Until the authorised version is completed - ETA March 2010 - this little countdown will do nicely.
And yes, of course it features Bert and Ernie doing “Ante Up”.

Why won’t Spiral from Big Brother 7 send my colleague his autograph?

Free Downloads And Streams, Naughty Rappers

Isabelle, editor of Brandish, has a dream. That dream is this: that Spiral (henceforth “Spoiral” - pictured right doing everything to some bord, click image to enlarge) from Big Brother 7 will give her his autograph. That’s it. She doesn’t want to put his head on her mantlepiece, or obtain any of his bodily fluids. She just wants a wee scribble.
Thus far, despite conversing with him through MySpace, and eliciting from him a promise that he would post his autograph to her work address, the aspiring rapper has failed to deliver. And frankly it’s becoming painful seeing her moping about the office, wailing and crying, emitting weepy snot bubbles every time the postman fails to deliver Spoiral’s autograph.

Ladyhawke’s impending tour should be PREYING on your mind. PREYING, geddit? :(

[I couldn't find any images of Ladyhawke that I had rights to, so this picture is of Rutger Hauer and Michelle Pfeiffer in the 1985 movie Ladyhawke. You can click to enlarge it if you desire.]
It’s a generally agreed fact that Ladyhawke is going to be huge. Everyone’s blogging on about her, and Popjustice have gone to the lengths of recommending you begin contributing to a piggybank so that you definitely have enough money to be able to purchase her debut album on its release on September 22nd.
So her forthcoming tour might be a good time to see her live before she becomes big enough to sell out the Grand Canyon and have Madonna as her support act.
Check out her live dates after the jump, along with TWO of her videos cos I couldn’t decide which I like more. Spoilt shitless, you.

Lovebox 2008 coverage includes, er, Britain’s first fruit fight. And Lethal Bizzle

Boosted Smoothies fruit fight 2.jpg
Weird, isn’t it, how channels get the rights to cover music festivals, but then choose to air them weeks after the fact and in the wee hours. On a weeknight. Is this because they can’t sell advertising around music festivals? I dunno.
The Lovebox London Weekender, Groove Armada’s very own festival (now there’s a way to guarantee headline status), took place the best part of a month back now. Featured artists included Goldfrapp, The Flaming Lips, Manu Chao, Lethal Bizzle, Young Knives and, of course, the Armada themselves.
