ourliam Liam Gallagher ends feud with BlurGuess what? You’ll never guess. Actually, you probably will if you’ve read the headline. Anyway, Liam Gallagher has called an end to his feud with Britpop rivals Blur. Of course, we all recall that Oasis and Blur were at loggerheads in the mid-nineties with it all coming to a head with a very obvious publicity stunt, Blur’s ‘Country House’ and Oasis’ ‘Roll With it’ coming out on the same day. Naturally, they had a bit ol’ war of words along the way.
Now the Oasis frontman says he’s not only over the rivalry, but actually likes Blur frontman Damon Albarn. “I don’t mind Blur,” Gallagher told Mojo. “I’m over it. It was a laugh man, that’s what you do when you’re young. When I see Damon Albarn, I buzz off him. If I was still caught up in it now I’d be a right wanker.”
Parker from Thunderbirds… I mean Noel Gallagher has also gone soft on ‘em too.

From the funking archives: Rick James - “Give It To Me Baby”

rickjames From the funking archives: Rick James Give It To Me BabyThis afternoon I’m going to subject the office to a playlist of funk and disco. They don’t know this yet, so keep it quiet. I’m going through a phase of loving the whole 80s synth-funk vibe as epitomised by the likes of early Prince and Janet Jackson, and spent the best part of Sunday scouting around for similar stuff.
Naturally I couldn’t avoid legendary mentalist Rick James, who’s probably better known in pop culture terms for elements other than his own songs - the magnificent Dave Chappelle skits, his pesky penchant for kidnapping and torturing women with crack pipes, the Superfreak sample on MC Hammer’s “U Can’t Touch This”.

phil spector Phil Spector trial ends in mistrialThe murder trial of legendary music producer Phil Spector ended in a mistrial yesterday (September 26) because the jurors were unable to agree on a verdict. After 12 days of deliberation, the jury foreman announced that the panel was deadlocked at 10 to 2. He did not indicate which way they were leaning.
The jury announced last week that they had reached a 7-5 impasse, after which Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Larry Paul Fidler issued further instructions in hopes of enabling them to reach a decision. After learning today that the jury had reached an impasse once again, Fidler declared a mistrial. “At this time, I will find that the jury is unable to arrive at a verdict and declare a mistrial in this matter,” Fidler said.

mammamia Mamma Mia movie set to join chick flick pantheon of girliness
Ladies, create space on your DVD shelf next to Dirty Dancing. That’s right - Mamma Mia, the hugely successful stage show which uses Abba’s back catalogue as the soundtrack, is coming to the big screen (don’t worry, I don’t think any of the above folk are in it).
Shall we count the ways in which this film is going to snare the entire (heterosexual) female population of the world (and their gay male buddies)?

weemacca Electric Proms iPoster not available from a WHSmiths near youAs we’ve reported previously, thanks to the BBC Electric Proms the end of October is shaping up to be quite an exciting time for London-based gig-goers. Non-London-based gig-goers will be able to use this period to further confirm their belief that London thinks it is the centre of the musicverse.
ANYWAY, with a diverse range of acts performing, including Justice, Kaiser Chiefs, Hadouken and Paul “Big Mac” McCartney (midgetized version pictured right) - plus a whole host of terrific films being screened - there’s quite an overwhelming range of activities going on.

mrdavegrohl Grohl wants the Lez Zeppelin drumstool
It’s easy to forget that Foo Fighters front-man Dave Grohl is one of the finest drummers in the world. With that, the huge Led Zep fan (he’s got a rather fetching Led Zep tattoo on his arm) has spoken of his desire to play drums for the newly-reformed Led Zeppelin. Grohl explained to NME.COM that he is “at their beck and call”, should they want to get in touch about performing with him.
“Ah, if I got that call, what the fuck do you think I’d be saying?” Grohl said. “I’d say, ‘Hey [Foo Fighters band-mates] Chris and Taylor, let’s take a little break for a few days, I’ll see ya later!’ But I don’t expect that to happen.”

Kanye west is a little drunk, very confident and not a siamese twin

Kanye’s egotastic schtick is getting a little old, but if he starts coming out with his nonsense while a little tipsy he may even endear himself to enraged Jared Leto fans.
The video below has him slurring just a wee bit and coming out with stuff he clearly doesn’t even quite understand himself. It is rather amusing.
