I suspect the bulk of Roll Deep’s new video had already been recorded when the list of BNP members leaked, but that hasn’t stopped them adding a scrolling list of names and locations below a figure with the head of a superimposed Nick Griffin.
It’s a pretty cheap alteration to the video really, and it gets their point across with the subtlety of a sledgehammer. And with many people claiming that the whole BNP list furore goes against the basic principles of democracy, it risks being seen as a spot of cynical witch-hunt bandwagon-jumping.
Having said that… er, check it out after the jump.
What’s your flava? Tell me, what’s your flava? Well, if your flava is “something from Craig David’s house in London’s leafy Hampstead”, you could be in luck thanks to charity auction site Buy Once Give Twice. But you have to be quick - the auction ends tomorrow, Wednesday 26th November.
The auction is in aid of children’s charity Rays Of Sunshine, so not only could you be chowing down on bangers n’ mash* as cooked by Craggles himself (or his executive chef), but you’ll be contributing to granting christmas wishes for some very sick kiddies.
Craggles isn’t the only one involved, either - there are also lots to see live performances by Coldplay, Kaiser Chiefs, Sting and Madness. Continue reading for more informational wordings.

Since premiering “Love Lockdown” at the MTV VMAs, Kanye West’s “new direction” has been viewed with suspicion. The apparent wholesale shift to autotuned warbler has, for perhaps the first time, led folk to see West as more follower than innovator. With the additional revelation that 808s & Heartbreak would contain no rapping (from Kanye, at least), the still highly-anticipated album was placed firmly in the corner marked “difficult”.
Having listened to it, I think 808s could actually come to be seen as Kanye West’s artistic high point. Sure, it doesn’t contain the high-pitched chipmunk vocals and soul samples that people have come to associate with him, but after a couple of run-throughs you can’t help but admire such a bold change.
There aren’t many pop superstars - and that’s what he became - who would be willing to jack in many of the elements that brought them success. I won’t be surprised if his next album sees him back on hip-pop form, but 808s is a stark, emotionally raw view from someone who got to the top of the game and found it an empty victory.
Sir Paul McCartney has revealed that as a way of relieving the pressure of being Sir Paul McCartney, he adopts an alter ego when in the studio. And a female alter ego at that.
Yes, when Macca approaches the mic to “lay down” some “vocals”, he does so as a lady by the name of Gladys Jenkins.
“That way,” he explains, “when you go to the microphone, I don’t think of it as going as Paul McCartney and it frees you up.”
I wonder if one day - maybe as soon as next week - Brandon Flowers will look back on these photos and wonder if they were a wise decision. There’s no doubt the chap can rock a tuxedo, but at what cost to The Killers’ cred?
Check out the rest of the pics here to see what I mean.

Girls Aloud popped along to the Dogs Trust West London Rehoming Centre the other day. They showed some children that Nintendogs game you’ve probably seen them flogging on the telly recently.
This reminds me of that time I tried to wank off a spotlight. I was similarly unsuccessful.
Of course, as YouTube smart-arse dukinitout comments, “you cannot ‘fellate’ a microphone. You could say she ’simulates fellatio using a microphone as a prop’, but to say this cheap stunt for attention is actually ‘fellatio performed upon a microphone’ is incorrect.”
Yes, the semantics are the important point here, aren’t they?
Things other folk have said about Beach House’s new video for “Used To Be”:
- “The saturated desert hues and retro motel settings of this video (shot during a recent West Coast tour in the desert outside LA with director Matt Amato) are visually stunning.” - I Am Fuel, You Are Friends
- “beautifully cinematic” - Sketchytown
- “the video perfectly captures the longing and melancholy that runs through most Beach House songs” - Stark Online
Things *I* have said about Beach House’s new video for “Used To Be:
I suppose if you record a rap song called “Girlz Gone Wild”, about girls going wild (by which I don’t mean feral), there’s a fair chance it’s going to come to the attention of the folk behind “adult” DVD series Girls Gone Wild (link NSFW, duh).
And so it is with someone called Lil Goonie, who should surely be spending his time recording sample-heavy tracks with titles like “Hey You Guyyyys!” and “It’s Wet Ain’t It? Drink It!”.
If I was on the fence about whether to ever visit Wisconsin - and I wasn’t - this story would have made my mind up niiice and quick.
We’ve all done a metal tune on karaoke in our time, haven’t we? In Wisconsin, you better make sure you treat the source material with respect. James Mischler was adjudged to have been too irreverent in his version of Dio’s “Holy Diver”, and was allegedly attacked by some drunk-as-fuck tooligan with the hellishly appropriate name of Kyle Drinkwine (pictured).
