Festivals round up: Lily Allen, Foo Fighters and flying men

The rain may have come down but the weekend’s festival action was a rousing success. All the goss on Lily Allen’s Bush-slating, Dave Grohl’s Mum and daredevil festival-goers below.
- Channel 4 are calling this year’s V Festival ‘the best ever’. The unlikely duo of headline acts Snow Patrol and Foo Fighters stormed the event, and even made friends - with Grohl visiting Lightbody onstage for a kiss. It was a lovey dovey affair, with Grohl’s mum also joining the Foos onstage.
A fully recovered Lily Allen toasted Amy Winehouse during her set and also had a pop at George W Bush. Don’t waste time reading 1,000 different versions all over the web though - get it straight from the horse’s mouth at her MySpace blog.
Babyshambles, meanwhile, had an heroic trip back when they stopped to pull a man from the wreckage of his vehicle on the motorway. After all that heroism though, it was back to normal: Doherty is now in police custody in London after yet another arrest.
- KT Tunstall made history at Beautiful Days by becoming the first woman ever to headline an evening of the event. Fresh from new-best-friend Madonna’s birthday party, Gogol Bordello also played a storming set. And Sunday night’s theme of hats and wigs will no doubt attract comments from those present over the next few days on the festival’s MySpace page.
- Powys was filled with the strains of Robert Plant’s Strange Sensation over the weekend as the Green Man Festival took place. The ex Led Zeppelin frontman and co had a great reception and kept the national feeling going with ’stong Welsh connections’, apparently…
- Loop was a success - for most of the acts at least. The Go! Team, Foals and Shy Child all took to the stage without a hitch. Shame the same couldn’t be said for headliners Fujiya & Miyagi - their set was halted after a rather strange man plunged from the big top while attempting to fly.
