Lily Allen gets her own TV show

Music News

Love her or loathe her, Lily Allen is big business at the moment. Her rants against other celebrities have won her as many enemies as friends. Maybe it’s because of this that BBC Three have decided to give her her own show. The working title is Lily Allen And Friends and, bizarrely, will be based on “the social networking phenomenon that helped to launch her career”.
Viewers will be invited to become Lily’s virtual friends and shape the show by contributing to topical discussions, putting questions to guests and even presenting parts of the show. Surely that means she’ll get paid while the viewer does all the work? The audience will consist entirely of Lily’s online friends, who will also have exclusive access to behind the scenes footage and can sign up to have highlights sent directly to their phones.

Guests will include the usual mix of celebrities, topical guests from the online world (whatever that means), bands and unsigned acts chosen by members of the network. They will all have a profile within the network that the group can access and comment on in the run-up to the show. Lily Allen And Friends will also follow the progress of the breaking new music acts showcased on the programme via the network.
Lily Allen says, “I’m so excited that BBC Three are giving me this chance. It’s something I intend to have lots of fun with and I have some great ideas for the show. Next year is going to be a brilliant year!”
The show promises to be forward thinking, innovative and fresh… but will it work? Does Lily have the skills to be the anchor of a TV show? Will the show really reflect what the networkers want? We’ll have to see… in the meantime, have some awful puns. Lily wouldn’t want to be anywhere else now that she’s got a reason to smile… (shoot me)…
