AfroC 76 Global Fusion: where you can see Afro Celt Sound System and Mr Pineapple Head before indulging in some Shamanic SanctuaryOK, I could sit here and pretend to be an expert on World Music, but I wouldn’t be able to pull it off and nobody would believe me. However - if you’re keen to expand your knowledge of this, well, worldwide genre, Global Fusion would seem to be the ideal place to do so. It takes place between 15th - 17th June at an address that unusually contains the words “Isaac Newton” and “Herstmonceux Castle”. For more details go here.
Headlining will be Afro Celt Sound System, who over the years have collaborated with Robert Plant, Sinead O’Connor and of course Peter Gabriel, on whose label they’ve released records for many years. But Global Fusion is keen to stress it’s about more than just music - check out the names of some of the workshops they’re putting on…

In addition to many musical acts, also on offer will be “Shamanic Sanctuary workshops”, “Circus Skills workshops” and “after dark gazing with the Travelling Observatory”. And if that doesn’t like a recipe for a fun-packed day, you’ve been a Keane fan too long.
It sounds like a day for the whole family, with storytelling, global crafts and international cuisine also part of the package. It’s comparatively cheap, too - tickets cost £60 for the three days, or Friday costs £10, Saturday £30 and Sunday £20. Plus free parking! It would appear tickets are still available, so it’s not too late.
And now, in a moment of slightly juvenile diversion, I’ll present - in ascending order - my favourite performer names which you’ll find at Global Fusion:
3. Oojami
2. Mr Pineapple Head
1. Spud and Yam
All of them beat yet another “The” band, eh readers?
