Amy Winehouse’s greatest crime is leaving us with an Alicia Keys Bond theme

Music News

alicia_keys.gifS’true - that oft-mooted Amy Winehouse Bond theme ain’t happening. Or if it is/has, it’s going to lie gathering dust in a recording studio while its creator dribbles her way around north London.
Understandably, the folk behind the forthcoming nonsensically-monikered film Quantum Of Solace have had quite enough waiting around for madam to get her act together. So instead they’ve turned to Alicia Keys and White Stripes’ Jack White to come up with summat.
An odd collabo, but the good news is that while Ms Keys will be bellowing away on the tune, Mr White is the one who wrote and produced it. So hopefully the theme - which goes by the suitably Bond-y name of “Another Way To Die” - shouldn’t just be an exercise in “powerful” lung-stretching.

This smacks of desperation on the part of an ailing ‘yesterday’ film franchise. Safety first, safety second and safety last. Like the films themselves.
It is like choosing Cliff Richards (the Ned Flanders of UK pop) instead of the Beatles, because John had LSD.
They are producing plastic ’seen it all before’ 100% risk free movies. James Bond was dead as a creative and interesting force 30 years ago. Winehouse, the creative genius of our age, is far far too good for them.
    A close escape for Amy.
