Cath Kidston, Orla Kiely and Celia Birtwell help you sport the correct festival fashions

Gadgets, Garments, Gifts & Gear

We can pretend otherwise, but we all know that nowadays festival time is as much its own little fashion season as it is a period in which to enjoy music. And I don’t think I’m being sexist when I say that the gender most keen on festival fashion is the woman-shaped one.

So with that I’m going to round up some of the various festival-related fashion bits and bobs that my esteemed Shiny Media colleagues have covered in recent times.

This is going to be a bit like that scene in the clothes store in Pretty Woman! Fun times! *claps hands and jumps up and down*

Let’s start off with a very popular lady named Cath Kidston…

She makes bags and accessories and stuff, by the looks of it. You know it’s going to rain at some point over your chosen festival weekend, so this purty umbrella is worth investing in.

Meanwhile if you’re travelling to climes beyond these fair shores, you will need what are known as “a passport” and some “luggage”. You don’t have to make these items match, but the fashion gods would rather you did - so check out Cath Kidston’s passport holder and luggage tag sets over at The Bag Lady.

Er, and when you’ve got those bits, you can tote this delightful little cowboy bag as you head to the burger stand. Just because you’re eating crap doesn’t mean you have accessorise like it.

Now footwear. Look, leave the Loubouwotsits at home. In fact, how about going a bit eco-friendly? Hippyshopper has a good selection here, including hemp sneakers and sandals made from sustainable materials.

Staying with eco-friendly pieces, Factory Green are being dubbed “the green Urban Outfitters” for their range of organic, funkily-designed t-shirts, hoodies and the like. Plus their clothes are apparently produced in premises run on solar and wind power.

When it comes to tents, these days you needn’t settle for that glorified orange wendy house from Argos. All manner of trendy designers are getting in on the festival action - Celia Birtwell and Orla Kiely are but a couple of examples. Actually Orla Kiely has quite a range of accessories in retro designs just waiting to be sported by glampers such as you.

Finally Catwalk Queen will show you how you’re supposed to - how you say - “pull all these pieces together”, with a handy guide to the glamper’s wardrobe and a look at this year’s most fetchingly-dressed celebrities spotted at festivals.

So there we are - just about everything you need to ensure you look good at festivals this summer. As long as it doesn’t rain too much. And your campsite doesn’t flood. And you don’t get all your stuff nicked. And you don’t get too wasted. And…

Bastard UK passport officials make you take the covers off your passport (not that I have one, but I like the RIGHT to have one. Or not).
Stu, re-read this sentence: “Just because you’re eating crap doesn’t mean you have accesorise like it.” Don’t fix it; it’s more fun when I know everyone has typos all over their blog.
