Funny to go from writing about sonic experimenters Radiohead to lumpen strummers Oasis. But I’ll be there when the new stuff comes out, hoping as ever that it’ll match… um… what was their last good album again?
Anyway, the big news is that the new single will be “The Shock Of The Lightening” and is out September 29th; and the album, Dig Out Your Soul, will follow in October. Both titles could almost have come from some automated Oasis title-generator, could they not?
And the race to find the leaks online starts… now.

“Glamping” was a term that came to prominence last year to put a name to the phenomenon of posh camping - designer tents, luxury campsites, etc. Well baby, I ain’t calling anything glampy until I can whip out my laptop and surf porn music blogs until my heart’s content.
Which is where this astounding teepee comes in. As well as wi-fi, it also features a solar-powered DVD player and a queen-size bed. It’s probably not one for Glastonbury, to be honest - but if you find yourself at some idyllic outdoor event somewhere, it’s looks perfect. And pricey.

Can You Gig It?, Music News

As I walked to the tube station last night I overheard a Radiohead fan bemoaning a couple of tracks that weren’t played on the first of their two nights at London’s Victoria Park. “That’s it, I’m going to be spending the rest of night thinking about what they didn’t play,” he continued.
You’re not that only one, buddy. While Radiohead occupy a unique place as one of the only bands who have become even bigger after becoming more musically obtuse, it wasn’t unreasonable to assume that an outdoor enormo-gig would bring out whatever crowd-pleasing tendencies they may retain from the Glasto-slaying days of the late 90s.
The reality was a set heavy on tracks from Kid A onwards, leaving fans in no doubt that, hey, if you’re a real Radiohead fan that’s what you’re supposed to be listening to these days.

- The BBC Glastonbury webcam is sending regular snapshots to Flickr
- National Express has announced late availability for direct coach services to the festival, which obviously allows more people to be environmentally friendly
- Talking of which, Hippyshopper has an excellent list of ways to have a green Glasto this year

The “program” in question was apparently something that featured “strippers shaking their tits around”. This was one evening as the young Ronson and Jacko hung out with Sean Lennon. It’s good to know celebrity kids get up to more or less the same stuff as “normal” ones now and again, isn’t it?
Anyway, it seems that Jacko wasn’t entirely up for watching naked ladies on the porn channel. Ronson explains: “I think he just had really strong feminist views on porn and the use of it.”
Yup, that’ll be it.

Already topping the bill at The Mighty Boosh festival (win tickets here, kids!), and fresh from a well-received, attention-grabbing album launch, the much-loved Charlies will be headlining the Ben & Jerry’s fest on Saturday July 26th.
Also appearing on the Saturday are Guillemots, Delays and Charlotte Hatherley, among others. What a good old British poppy time you shall have should you attend the event on London’s Clapham Common.
The Sunday date will see performances from Ash and The Lemonheads, Get Cape, Wear Cape, Fly and Cage The Elephant.

Before you panic/become outraged, you should know that they’re going to give you some for free to replace it.
Glastonbury is hooking up with Nouvelle to give away 120,000 rolls of Nouvelle Soft which is an ultra-soft, 100% recycled toilet paper. Recycled bogroll that doesn’t feel like sandpaper on your orifi? That can’t be bad.
Glasto organisers reckon they’ll have plenty to give to everyone, although you do have to wonder whether they’ve considered the possibility that 50% of rolls handed out could end up being chucked into crowds, into trees, etc. Then again, the stuff is like gold dust at festivals so it could actually end up as currency.

If you’re going to Glastonbury this year, Gumtree is keen to remind you that, hey, you don’t have to lose ALL the money on that tent you took with you just because you can’t be arsed lugging it home.
In a recent survey a whopping 46% of folk admitted that, yes, they are planning to leave behind belongings such as tents, wellies, clothing and sleeping bags. Madness! Unless they’re covered in effluence. I wouldn’t blame them for that.

No, I haven’t been following her around and making note of her trips to sexual health clinics. Kelly, whose songs tend to go from “meh” to “woo!” depending on who’s remixing them, is going to undergo an HIV test in Kenya as a way of raising awareness of the illness in the country. The trip is as part of MTV’s Staying Alive Foundation, for which Kelly is an ambassador.
Admirable, of course. Could backfire a touch if it turns out she’s positive though. I’M NOT SAYING SHE IS. But come on, that though must have occurred to you too.
