Country? Folk? Tex-Mex? Psychedelic Jazz? Whatever Calexico are, they’re bloody great when on form. Having caught them live a few times, I’m happy to say that they’re usually mindblowing. So with that, the group have announced their only UK date, which will take place at the forthcoming End Of The Road festival.
Calexico are set to headline the Sunday at the End of the Road, and it’s one of only three European dates that the band are taking in thus far. As well as EOTR, Calexico will stop off in Germany, playing two dates. First, they’ll play the Southside Festival (June 20) and than Hurricane Festival (22). At End of the Road, the band will join Mercury Rev, Dirty Three, Two Gallants, Low and British Sea Power at the brilliant and intimate gathering (which only holds about 5000 people and features peacocks strolling around the grounds). The festival runs from September 12 - 14, adult weekend ticket costs £105, see endoftheroadfestival.com for further details.
