Green Man Festival requires one more band to complete line-up - and it could be yooouuu
You! You there! With the band! And the internet connection! Do you want to play in front of 10,000 people at the Green Man Festival? What? What do you mean Green Man is full of stoned, smelly, bearded folkies? How ignorant.
Green Man’s growth in popularity has caused grumbling in some quarters, but I reckon most people will be pleased that a genuine alternative to the more mainstream fests is doing well enough to attract a bill like this year’s: Super Furry Animals, Spiritualized, Iron and Wine, Caribou and Drive By Truckers are a few of the cult acts in attendance this year.
And if you’re a musical artist yourself, you could join them.
Green Poll is Green Man Festival’s competition for acts who are after their big break. The winning artist will get a slot on the bill at Green Man, which means a potential audience of 10,000. That’s a couple more than the Bollock and Badger’s back room, isn’t it?
All you have to do is register and embed some video from YouTube/MySpace on the site. Then spam everyone you’ve ever met to try and get them to vote for you. If you win you’ll be able to reward at least a few of your spamees, as you’ll be given an additional 6 tickets for the festival.
My vote has gone to Redlight Robots, whose searing rock n’roll riffitude will blow your brains out through your ears and into the ears of the person stood beside you. In a lovely way.
(OK, disclosure: they’re friends of mine. They are good, though.)
