Moldy Peach to do Sesame Street tracks?

Music News

Goddamn! This sounds like a marriage made in heaven! The Moldy Peaches’ Kimya Dawson is set to write music for legendary children’s TV show Sesame Street. Her childlike melodies and cutesy-but-trashy delivery will be perfect for the greatest kids show ever aired. If you don’t know who she is still, maybe you’ll recognise half of her songs from the recent Oscar-winning Juno soundtrack?

She tells Billboard.com, “I might do some music work with (Sesame Street), which is like my dream. I’m a kid of the ’70s, and I definitely grew up with Sesame Street - the old Sesame Street. I’m just a huge, huge fan.”
Dawson has a new LP out soon called Alphabutt , which is an album of children’s music. Describing that work, she added, “I think the songs are really free, which is a little different from a lot of other kids music I’ve heard. And I think kids will connect with it, musically, because it’s actually kids playing. It’s really free and kind of wild.”
And because this has got me feeling all nostalgic, let’s have a look at what she would be emulating if she were to work with Elmo and the gang…
