Most pointless news story ever: Elvis visited England once
Every paper, rag, mag, website and blog has reported with glee about Elvis and his visit to England. For years, it’s been thought that The King only stepped foot on British soil once, as part of a stop-off with the army or something. He set his rock ‘n’ roll tootsies down in South Ayrshire at Prestwick Airport and presumably had a fag, stretched his legs and thought of sunny America. Well now, a football chairman (to be trusted of course), Bill Kenwright, has claimed that contrary to popular belief, Elvis Presley did visit England properly once.
Speaking to BBC Radio 2, Kenwright claimed that Presley went on a trip around London with mutual friend Tommy Steele in 1958. “Elvis came to England!”, he said. “Tommy showed him round London. One night Tommy got a phone call [from Presley]. They talked and they got a friendship going. Elvis flew in for a day and Tommy showed him round London. They spent a day together, Tommy took him round and showed him round the Houses of Parliament.”
Question is, does anyone actually give a flying fig?

This is THE news story of the 21st Century so far, if true, which I very much doubt. Elvis’s bodyguards would have surely mentioned this momentous occasion had it actually took place.
