One-Hit Wonderful - “In the Year 2525 (Exordium and Terminus)” by Zager and Evans

One-Hit Wonderful, Video

Zager and Evans’ “In the Year 2525 (Exordium and Terminus)” went to the top spot in the UK and in US… so this was a proper hit. Heard of it? Chances are you ain’t… which is a shame because this slice of orchestrated gloom-pop is as wonderful as it gets! Big, bold and no chorus, this song looks into the future and scares the pants right off ya! With each jump in time (and subsequent key change) they paint ever more depressing pictures, getting to “the year 9595, I’m kinda wonderin’ if Man is gonna be alive. He’s taken everything this old Earth can give, and he ain’t put back nothing… whoa whoa”… or should that read woe-woe‘?
