jonesdap kingsalbum Pop Heaven: Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings 100 Days 100 NightsI only heard about Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings for the first time the other day, but I’m already hooked. If you’re enjoying the distinctly vintage soul / funk vibe that the likes of Mark Ronson and Amy Winehouse reference, you will love this.
Indeed the Dap Kings featured as instrumentalists on Winehouse’s Back To Black, and acted as her backing band on her debut tour of the U.S. They also appeared extensively on Ronson’s Versions album.
“100 Days, 100 Nights” is the title track from their latest album, which was apparently released in October (Stateside, I’m guessing). LOVE the 60s-style black and white vid, too. Watch it over the page.
