The Maccabees, Foals, The Rascals among acts at 2008’s Underage Festival line-up
As if having all their hair and no mortgages to fret over wasn’t enough for the youth, they now have their own burgeoning underage gig scene. The daddy of the underage scene is, naturally enough, the Underage Festival, which is just for those not yet legally old enough to obliterate their livers with alcohol.
The Underage Festival’s first outing, in 2007, was a huge success. I’m told. I wasn’t there, obviously, because I was born before 2005. This year they have what looks to be an even better line-up. Click over for a frankly overwhelming list of impressive acts set to perform.
This year you’ll be able to see, among others:
The Maccabees
The Rascals
Four Tet
Gallows
Foals
The Horrors “and supporting cast”
Bonde De Role
Bombay Bicycle Club
Cheeky Cheeky and the Nosebleeds
Count And Sinden
Operator Please
Poppy And The Jezebels
Sons And Daughters
The Rifles
In addition to all that, there’s also the appropriately-monickered Young Turks Soundsystem, which will feature DJ sets from Faris Rotter, Lightspeed Champion, Mystery Jets, Good Shoes, Kid Harpoon and, of course, Young Turks.
This year’s event is being put on in association with BBC Radio 1 and BBC Switch, who are obviously eager to align themselves with the latest generation of spotty door-slammers. It’ll take place at London’s scenic Victoria Park on 8th August, and you can get tickets at the usual outlets for a mere £23. I wonder if you need anti-ID at the gate to ensure entry?
