tim burgess To be honest I would probably not be writing about The Charlatans You Cross My Path if it cost actual moneyApparently, The Charlatans’ album You Cross My Path, which has been downloaded over 30,000 times, would be at number two in the charts right now if it was eligible. It’s not, of course, because they decided to give it away for nowt via XFM.
What they’re missing in album sales they’re gaining in publicity, mind you. The very fact that so many people have taken advantage of the free offer has got them plenty of attention - and now Hollywood star Joaquin Phoenix, bizarrely, has lent a helping hand by raving about them. If you’re still umming and ahhing over whether to indulge in some qualidee free music, you spoilt brat, check out the vid to the album’s title track over the page.
