Under The Covers (in reverse) - Gloria Jones’ Tainted Love

Under The Covers, Video

This is a spin on the usual Under The Covers this week. Instead of featuring a cover, I’m going to feature an original of a tune that not many knew was a cover in the first place. Now, you’ve all heard Tainted Love by Soft Cell - a perfect slice of sleazy synth-pop - right? Well, it was first recorded in the ’60s by Gloria Jones who went on to become Mrs Marc Bolan of T-Rex fame. Gloria’s version is a sass filled horn-o-thon that has set light to the dancefloors of virtually every Northern Soul night in existence. What the video below (with its weird melange of retro images) and get down to a dancefloor classic! [video: funknroll]
