When Paul McCartney met Pete Doherty
He might be the wettest of all The Beatles, but there is no doubt that Sir Paul McCartney is one of the most loved human beings on the planet. His effortless songwriting with a still evident zest for life has seen Thumbs Aloft Macca continue to grow in the fondness of the world’s hearts. So, with that, did any of you manage to catch his fascinating chat with indie warbler Pete Doherty in yesterdays Observer Music Monthly?
Featuring everything from “chicks, chicks, chicks” and being “the fat guy who stands at the back”, Macca is taken on a waltz down memory lane with Doherty, who himself recalls memories of eggs hitting press photographers and stealing record sleeves by The Smiths. Hah yeh I read that yesterday and was amazed Paul could pick someone as idiotic as Pete to interview him.
Did you read the excerpt from Slash’s biography that was a few pages before? Now THAT was a corker!
That Slash article was fantastic! But that interview was just so weird. I thought the pic on the front was quite patronising to Macca as well. Obviously I think he’s some sort of deity, so the site of Pete with his arm round him just seemed wrong to me. He might as well have just been patting him on the head.
