Will / won’t / should / shouldn’t Amy Winehouse make the Grammys?
I hate it when you’re hosting a party and the person you really hope will come - the person who’s going to make the whole freaking thing worth it - is all vague about attending. “Yeah, I have this other thing on, I’ll see if I can swing by…”
That must be how the Grammy Awards show organisers feel about Amy Winehouse right now. There seems to be a lot of expectation being put on this skeletal crack addict, especially when any expectation you put on a skeletal crack addict could legitimately be considered “too much”.
Anyway, it looks like Amy - or, if she’s wandering around in a medicated daze, her management - is doing everything possible to make the show, during which she could potentially pick up six awards.
First rehab, now trips to the US embassy to presumably beg for that pesky Norwegian drugs bust to be overlooked / forgiven / conveniently forgotten. Will it be enough? Is it seriously wise for someone barely a fortnight out of cold turkey to fly halfway across the world to perform in a high-pressure environment? Well Britney’s comeback at the MTV VMAs went pretty well, right?
Right?
