Bjork, Kate Nash and Franz Ferdinand to be found at Germany’s Melt festival
That’s bloody it. I’m emigrating. Or at least maybe possibly thinking of perhaps touring European Festivals this summer.
The other week I took a look at Serbia’s Exit festival, which offers hard partying in an ancient castle at bargain prices. Well, if you can’t make that one you might want to consider Germany’s Melt festival. As seems to be the way these days with Euro-fests, it offers a terrific bill at very reasonable prices.
Melt takes place in Ferropolis between 18th and 20th July - originally conceived as a two-day festival, the third day apparently had to be added due to overwhelming demand.
More details after the jumpitude.
It’s easy to see why the organisers needed to add another date when you check out some of the acts on the bill: Björk, Booka Shade, Does It Offend You, Yeah, Editors, Franz Ferdinand, Hercules And Love Affair, Kate Nash, Stereo MCs and The Wombats are just some of the artists you’ll be able to see this year.
The most you’ll pay for a (legitimate) ticket is €85 plus booking fee, and that’s for a three-day pass. You can get tickets for one and two days as well if you can’t hack the pace. If you fly to Berlin you can hop on a shuttle bus to Ferropolis, which is in the old East Germany. Yay for cheap former communist states!
