Burt Bacharach, Adele and Razorlight added to BBC Electric Proms 2008 - tickets now on sale
This year’s BBC Electric Proms will take place from 22nd October to 26th October, with Liverpool - European City of Culture this year, ‘member - joining London as host to numerous big-name bastards.
And big-name bastards don’t get much larger than one of the greatest songwriters ever to grace the orb - Burt Bacharach. This is the guy who wrote “Walk On By”, “Close To You”, “I Just Don’t Know What To Do With Myself”, “I Say A Little Prayer”, “What’s New Pussycat”, and many more bastardly good tunes.
Joining Silver Burt will be Adele, who must be doing OK ‘cos I heard “Hometown Glory” on the soundtrack of teen-tear-tease One Tree Hill the other night. Meanwhile, in Liverpool Razorlight will be headlining, hopefully putting to rest disturbing recent rumours that their new album’s actually pretty good.
Other acts due to perform at the various venues in London and Liverpool include Keane, Goldfrapp and Jamie Cullum, while Robin Gibb will collaborate with Sharleen Spiteri and Sam Sparro to mark the 30th anniversary of Saturday Night Fever.
Full listings and links to purchase tickets can be found at the official BBC Electric Proms page, with Saturday 25th October at Liverpool’s Barfly looking pretty hot as far as new acts go - Esser, Thomas Tantrum and Kitty Daisy and Lewis make up the bill there. However, you’ll only be able to attend that particular show if you’re aged 14-18, so grown-ups wishing to sneak in may want to make an appointment with a botox needle before then.
