DragonForce’s lyrical nonsense receives wider exposure thanks to Guitar Hero III

Music News, Video

I had always assumed that DragonForce were Scandinavian. The name, for one thing - surely no natural English speakers would choose such a corny Dungeons & Dragon-style moniker?
But no, turns out I was wrong. The band - who specialise in almost happy-hardcore paced power rock - are Brits after all. Their fanbase has always been global though, and their exposure has recently been helped considerably thanks to their appearance on Guitar Hero 3 - Legends Of Rock.
The Sony Playstation game features their song “Through The Fire And Flames”, and, following the release of the game, the single’s sales increased by a mighty impressive 183%. I pity the fool willing to risk carpal tunnel syndrome by trying to keep up with Herman Li’s solos.

“Through The Fire And Flames” is taken from the band’s third album, Inhuman Rampage, and is pleasingly consistent with the ‘Force’s rather OTT lyrical oeuvre. Check out the video below - and, if you’d like to croon along to the first verse, it goes a little something like this:
On a cold winter morning, in the time before the light,
In flames of death’s eternal reign, we ride towards the fight.
When the darkness has fallen down, and the times are tough all right.
The sound of evil laughter falls around the world tonight.
