I Thought You Were Dead!: Hear Estelle team up with Kanye West on “American Boy”
I Thought You Were Dead!, Music News
You may have noticed that Brit singer / hop-hopper Estelle has returned to the scene recently, after nicking off to New York a few years back. You remember! Her that did “1980″?
Her comeback single from the tail end of last year, “Wait A Minute (Just A Touch)”, was produced by Will.i.Am, and since she signed to John Legend’s record label the procession of starry sidekicks shows no sign of stopping. Why, the latest track from her forthcoming album to see the light of day features Mr. Collabo himself, Kanye West.
“American Boy” is pretty much perfect for the mainstream - Estelle shows off her singing voice, Kanye drops some rhymes (containing plenty of namechecks for UK bits and bobs) and it’s all laid over a smooth, dance-lite beat which will have the girls throwing shapes in TopShop on a Saturday afternoon.
The nice folk at Spine Magazine have posted the American Boy MP3 for you to check out -
