Robyn, Chris Brown and The Courteeners to appear on T4’s Nokia Green Room this Sunday

Film, TV & Radio Goodness, Music News

I miss Popworld. It was great hangover telly - music, silly humour, attractive popstars. All it needed was the ability to serve me a strawberry milkshake and it would have been perfect. Since it was axed Sunday mornings (or early afternoons) have been a bit lightweight on the old music front, apart from the odd live concert from Timberlake and the like. And don’t get me started on Hollyoaks.
Well, music fans might be in for something of a treateroo from this weekend, because that’s when Nokia Green Room hits our screens. It’s on T4 at a pleasingly post-morning time-slot - 2.20pm, to be precise. Find out what it’s all about after the jump.

The first show features performances from an eclectic bunch - American R&B superstar Chris Brown, Mancunian indie hopefuls The Courteeners and Swedish sensation Robyn will all appear alongside human beatbox extraordinaire Beardyman. My tip is to tune in to catch Count & Sinden, though, in the hope that they’ll be playing their day-glo bassline earworm “Beeper”.
I know what you’re thinking - it’s sponsored by Nokia, so where do they come into it? Well, it’s all about their plucky iTunes challenger Nokia Music Store, innit. If you like The Courteeners’ performance of their recent single “Not Nineteen Forever”, for example, you’ll be able to download it from Nokia Music Store right after the show. Pretty neat.
Apparently another aspect of the show is the fact that you’ll be able to snoop on the performers backstage thanks to “hidden cameras and microphones”. That sounds a little bit illegal to me, but hey, this is rock n’ roll we’re talking about here, so what do I know.
Nokia Green Room runs for 15 weeks from this Sunday. You can catch the show on:
· Sunday 6th April at 14.20 - T4
· Sunday 6th April at 19.30 - The Hits
· Wednesday 9th April at 00.10 - T4
Check out Nokia Music Store here (not if you’re using Mozilla Firefox though, boo)

Did you not see the other day when Hollyoaks hosted a mini-festival in the each of their venues? Guillemots at the Dog and Duck? Get Cape at the SU Bar? It was television gold.
