Sleeps In Oysters house ridiculously-titled album in ridiculously elaborate sleeve

I wonder if the solution to the CD’s seemingly inexorable decline is ever more elaborate ways of packaging the little blighters. You know, making them “collectible” and all that. It probably wouldn’t work for me, but you must never underestimate folks’ desire to collect things.
And if those things are rare handmade CD sleeves lovingly crafted by the artists themselves, there will always be at least a few rabid fans keen to get their hands on them.
Now imagine, if you will, that a musical pairing by the name of Sleeps In Oysters releases an album with the knuckle-chewingly cutesy title We kept the memories locked away like the beetles of or childhood, or How to appreciate someone who is always around.
You’d surely expect nothing less than a “250 limited edition mini-album CD and 5 bespoke postcards parcelled in paper, tied with string and sealed with wax, housed in individually handmade fabric sleeves, lovingly embroidered and uniquely numbered”, right?
WATCH DIS:
Rather a costly endeavour, of course - in time and money. But with record companies making cutbacks all over the place, and paying more modest advances to artists, could they not stock up on wool and knitting needles and persuade their creative charges to get into the workshop?
I’m sure mouthily talented chaps like Johnny Borrell and Kanye West would be loathe to admit that no, they could not knock up 5,000 crocheted CD sleeves by end of play Thursday. Imagine how much those personally crafted pieces would “go for”.
Buy the album with the long name for an actually rather reasonable £7.99 at Seed Records’ online store
