Stevie Wonder plays Selfridges, Woolies hopefully next

Music News

You know what I hate about Christmas shopping? The lack of legendary soul singers in-store to make the whole palaver bearable. If Al Green was on had to croon to me as I elbowed drunks out of the way in Argos, or if Aretha Franklin could whip me into a glove-purchasing frenzy in Gap, it would all seem almost worthwhile and not just one long pointless cog in the capitalist machine.
Ahem. Aren’t you glad you’re not on my Christmas list?

Anyway, these thoughts occurred to me as news came through that yesterday, mere minutes from where I sat miserably contemplating the crappy weather, STEVIE BLOODY WONDER was singing his little heart out in Selfridges for 500 “special guests”. If it turns out he did “Signed, Sealed, Delivered” while I was having server problems the pain will be almost too much to bear.
Did they have to stick him in the shop window, though? Bit cruel.
