Where Have I Heard That Song Before?:The Film 2007 music - it’s Nina Simone, buddy…

Video, Where Have I Heard That Song Before?

Ever watched Film [insert your year of choice here] with either Jonathan Ross or Barry Norman and found yourself wondering ‘what is that ace jazzy piano lick at the kick off?’ Well fear not, I’m here to help. The tune is the intro from the sublime “I Wish I Knew How It Feels To Be Free” by Nina Simone. The song, far from being some dinner jazz guff, is actually an incredibly potent civil rights song. Sadly, most remember Nina for her “I’ve Got No (I Got Life)” (which can currently be spotted in a yoghurt ad) and “My Baby Just Cares For Me”. Dig her seventies stuff and find some snarling funk and killer put-downs to the racists and bigots! Anyway, here’s a video (of sorts) of the wonderful “…Free”. [via scottie1989]
