The force looks strong for the Tidy Weekender, which takes place in Pontins Holiday Park, Prestatyn, Wales, from 5-7 October… although they really should have had it on May 4th shouldn’t they? Geddit? No? May the 4th be with you… I’ll get me coat.
Spinning horrendous trance at the event will be Judge Jules, Lisa Lashes, Anne Savage, Sander Van Doorn and Rob Tissera (and more!) who’ll be taking fans on a trip to the dark side. Wooo. The Pontins holiday park will be transformed into a Hoth wasteland of Class A drugs and gurning for the 12th Tidy Weekender. Expect house, trance and hard house in the four arenas, with music running from 10pm until 6am on Friday and Saturday (3am on Sunday). Expect a few impromptu after parties in the chalets too…
A spokesman said: “The theme has been set and it is guaranteed the Tidy faithful will faultlessly adhere to the intergalactic attire. Expect Storm Troopers and Ewoks a plenty and a fair sprinkling of Darth Vader masks. It’s time to polish off those lightsabers, laser guns and blasters, as Tidy goes super sonic.” Tickets are on sale now, priced

Summer may have never really arrived and the festival season may be drawing to a close, but there are still plenty of tasty treats on offer this weekend. Here’s a round-up.
- The unlikely setting of Culzean Castle in Ayrshire is gearing up for Europe’s largest 80s music festival, Retrofest. It’s set to be ‘bigger than shoulderpads’, apparently, with the biggest 80s line-up since Live Aid.
Eating at festivals is, at best, a pain in the arse. It’s pricey and often awkward (finding somewhere to sit and wrestling with cheap paper plates and the like). Well, why not go prepared? For under

Hamish Law (on the right in the picture) is a marketing executive from Oxford… but don’t hold that against him. When he’s not wearing suits and looking important, he’s a secret cider-swigging dance fiend. Here’s his view of Creamfields 2007 (or what he can remember of it…) 1. Kindly tell us your name, age and where you

Are you going to Electric Picnic, taking place this weekend in at Stradbally Hall Estate, Stradbally, Co. Laois, Ireland? If so, you’re a jammy so-and-so. The Electric Picnic sneakily got itself the best line-up of the summer with acts like Bjork, Polyphonic Spree, Beastie Boys, Sonic Youth, Iggy and The Stooges, Jarvis Cocker, Jesus and Mary Chain, Scott Matthews, !!!, Spiritualized (acoustic), Ladytron, Stephen Fretwell and Sons and Daughter. Phew! And you thought Glasto had it all?
I’ll be speaking to some revelers next week to make us that aren’t going generally jealous and for views on what Bjork et al was like!

Loopallu, the ‘little fest in the west’ (with a funny name) which takes place in the tiny picturesque West Coast fishing village of Ullapool on the shores of Loch Broom, Scotland on Friday 21st and Saturday 22nd of September has announced that Franz Ferdinand are make their only UK festival appearance of this summer by headlining the Saturday night.
Loopallu has gained a cult status over the last two years and despite its remoteness sells out weeks in advance. Alongside the bands, which include The Bees, Saw Doctors, Dreadzone, The Family Mahone (Radio 2 Mark Radcliffe’s band) Pull Tiger Tail and Sergeant, you get one of the most amazing backdrops to any festival on the circuit. Add to that, you also get a festival that continues long into the early hours after the main big top event finishes, and an array of local speciality food that sees Ullapool double its size for a weekend.
The last few remaining online tickets for Loopallu 2007 are available priced at just

- There seem to be a lot of twisted Firestarters around these days. Someone’s gone and set fire to the, er, Burning Man in San Francisco before the festival has even started. How impatient
- The Rizla Arena at next weekend’s Bestival has announced its line-up - it includes Beastie Boys, Primal Scream and Terry Hall of The Specials
- Bjork will play Connect Festival this weekend, and while she tends to split opinion down the middle this review may tempt you in her direction if you’re at the site
