While we’re on the subject of our friends at Nollie, if you’re a fan of delicate-but-not-mopey, chilled-out acoustic goodness, you might want to check out their latest comp.
They’re giving away 5 copies of the double EP from Angus and Julia Stone, Heart Full of Wine / Chocolate and Cigarettes. Er, does a double EP equal one album? Not sure of the current exchange rate regarding formats.
Anyway, go here to enter the competition - and if you’re not sure whether it’s worth it, the delightful “Just A Boy”, which you can hear/see over the page, should convince you.
We’re not the only site into festivals, you know. Our neighbours at Nollie are mad for the whole outdoor pursuits thing, and festivals come under that remit quite nicely.
They pointed me in the direction of a camper van today, but this ain’t no ordinary dog-scented weedmobile. The frankly beautiful Volkawagen Westfalia Verdier was designed by Canadian designer Alexandre Verdier, and comes equipped with its own solar panels, a hybrid engine and “a swivel cooking range”. So you can drive to your festival feeling stylish, eat stuff that didn’t come in a polystyrene box… and feel smug as hell. I don’t know how much this thing costs, but you can’t put a price on that.
For more info and mouth-watering images, head over to Nollie.

H&M are using it, as did Bailey’s a while ago. Minnie Ripperton’s ‘Les Fleurs’ has been long loved on the breaks scene, and rightly so. Of course, Minnie is best known for her crystal shattering ‘Loving You’, but for me, ‘Les Fleur’ is by far her best and most outrageous work.

Yeah. I geddit. Joy Division are really influential. I know. Stop going on about it. Just about every two-bit schmindie band around at the moment seems to be parping on about their love for Joy Division. No wonder. Joy Division are great. Hang on… isn’t this supposed to be ‘I Don’t Like Them As Much As I’m Supposed To’?
You use your camera to shoot video. You use your phone to shoot video. You may even be capturing the world in high definition. Now’s the time to get your footage working for you by entering our competition and scoring a great prize.
We have teamed up with Visual Networking experts, Cisco, to offer shedloads of cool prizes and all you have to do is show us a video that illustrates ‘My Video Life’.
The handwritten lyrics from John Lennon’s (you may remember him from such bands as The Beatles and The Dirty Mac) ‘Give Peace a Chance’ are to be sold at Christies pop memorabilia auction this July.
Let’s be honest. There’s no man alive today in the world of folk/country who creates more confusion and joy… and mystery… than Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy. Quasi-cryptic songs, wonky key shifts and pure, unadulterated heartbreak see Will Oldham taking the crown of king of modern country. So with each new release comes a little more fervour. Good news is that Oldham, in his Bonnie Prince Billy guise, is to release a new album titled ‘Lie Down In The Light’ on May 19.
When people think of British Eurovision entries, Bucks Fizz are never usually far from mind. Well, Cheryl Baker, kids TV chef and Fizz crooner, will probably do her best to forget her appearance with the dire CoCo who chirruped about the ‘Bad Old Days’. Seriously. Depressin’ huh? Well, click and watch. Chances are you’ll want to forget it too. [video:yozzerhughes]

Clearly SHAKEN by the recent finding that they’re the dullest band on the planet, Coldplay are launching an all-out offensive aimed at winning/retaining the love of you, the illegally downloading record-buying public.
Good news for anyone who actually likes scrawly-handed Martin and his mates, then. They’ll be playing a free show at Brixton Academy on 16th June, and another at Madison Square Garden on 23rd June. If you head over to Coldplay.com now-ish you should be able to find details of how to obtain tickets.
And that’s not all.
