Björk to tour UK in April
The new year (or 2008 if your prefer) is to be full of Björk goodness. Yep, the Ice maiden is to bring her lush experimental pop to these shores with a tour and a new single. Björk! It’s been far too long! April sees Björk touring her Volta LP which has been stunning fans across the globe in series of festival performances and headline shows.
Björk’s band on the Volta Tour includes longtime collaborator Mark Bell (of LFO fame) on computers and tinkling the keys will be Damian Taylor… drums come from Chris Corsano (of Sonic Youth fame) and Björk’s fantastic all female Icelandic 10 piece brass section is to join her in full effect. Jesus. It’s going to be good. So where will she be playing? And Michel Gondry… what’s he got to do with anything?
The tour is preceded by the release of the brand new single ‘Declare Independence’ on January 1st 2008. If you haven’t heard the tune, get on it… it’s Björk at her most aggresive and muscular. Taken from her new album ‘Volta’, ‘Declare Independence’ is written and produced by Björk, along with Mark Bell and… if that isn’t treat enough, the track comes complete with an incredible video courtesy of celebrated Oscar winning French director Michel Gondry (‘Sunshine of the Spotless Mind’) with whom Björk has worked on acclaimed videos including Army of Me and Hyperballad.
