Hervé’s Ghetto Bass bangs like a barn door, or something else very banging
That chap to the right, crying like a girl while pretending to have gotted something in his eye, is Hervé. You might know him as The Count from off of The Count And Sinden, who released that amazing “Beeper” banger last year with Kid Sister. It was the one that went “hitmeonmybeeper beepah beepah”, and so on.
Despite being described in press releases as French, and despite having all these silly names, Hervé is actually an Englisher. But he does make the kind of music like you might expect to find on French label Ed Banger.

He mixes pretty much every genre of dance music together to create a level of bangingness that is very pleasing indeed. It is quite obvious on listening to his new compilation Ghetto Bass that his primary aim is to rock your brainium to within an inch of its life, and in that he succeeds. It is marvellous.
As a little taster, below you can stream/download his remix of Bloc Party’s “Mercury”, which takes the original’s yelpy discomfort and transforms it into block-rocking menace. It’s fantastic, and if you get the album you’ll hear it mixed into Machines Don’t Care’s ravealicious “Drop It To The Floor”.
The entire album is a bit like that: banging track mixed into banging track mixed into banging track banging track mixed into banging track mixed into banging track banging track mixed into banging track mixed into banging track.
More people should think about doing this kind of thing.
Hervé’s Ghetto Bass is available at Play.com, among other places. You can find Hervé on MySpace, of course.
