This Charming Tehran: Morrissey escapes controversy in UK by, um, planning to play Iran
Now, I’m not going to pretend to be an expert in Middle East affairs. But wasn’t it only last year that some Iranian folk kind of kidnapped some British people for possibly sailing into the wrong bit of water? I hope they don’t get wind of the speculation that Mozza’s sexuality may not be strictly in line with Islamic law…
Anyway, if this story is true, and Mozza is planning on playing Iran and / or touring the Middle East, good on him for breaking boundaries and going to such lengths to bring white indie miserablism to the region.
And, obviously, this move is definitely not just a really perverse way of simultaneously giving a big F-You to Britain, sections of which have not been especially welcoming recently, while showing that he’s not all anti-foreigner and stuff.
