Tenuous US Election-related music linkdump
Whoever said music and politics don’t mix was clearly some kind of twat-head. You can’t shut our pop stars up at the moment, with their banging on about ver politics. Now that it’s all over can you all just go back to making music PLEASE?
Having said that, let’s see what Barack-related flotsam is bobbing around the music netosphere:
- Joss Stone performed the remarkably-titled “Governmentalist” the other night at a voter registration group concert, hence the huge turnout this year
- Americans had the chance to rid themselves of Akon, Moby, M.I.A and Seal yesterday, and blew it
- Bruce Springsteen and Jay-Z were among music starfolk who made late appeals for people to vote for Bazza
- Bazza didn’t do his youth appeal any harm by appearing on MTV; McCain, perhaps wisely, gave the opportunity a miss
- If all this recent hope and optimism has left you feeling a bit icky, an article at The Quietus may appeal: it laments the smugness of left-leaning music types alongside “the righteous forces of artistic liberalism”
- Wondering what inspired that mean-spirited rant at The Quietus? Meet Mr P Diddy, Mr Jay-Z, Mr Pete Wentz and Mr Nasty Nas
