Get Fightstar, Kate Nash, The Wombats and Ironik to play your school disco
UK SCHOOLCHILDREN AGED 14-18! Assuming you can read words that aren’t written purely in text speak, and are not too busy playing Street Stab on your wireless computer video console phone, this may interest you.
MySpace are keen to take over your school, basically. As part of the slightly sinisterly-titled MySpace School Invasions promotion they want to come along with hard rockers Fightstar and put on a show in your school hall. The ’star will play live, while Kate Nash, The Wombats and Ironik - who is able to raise women from the dead using purely the power of rap, remember - will all perform DJ sets.
To put the prospect of having this show in your assembly hall into perspective, let me just say that when I was at school the coolest guest we had was Kriss Akabusi.
In addition to the musical guests, the winning school will also win £10,000 worth of music equipment and “a music masterclass with an established band”.
To be in with a chance of winning this splendid shindig, head over to the School Invasions MySpace page, enter your school for consideration, and then - I imagine - spam every bugger in your life senseless trying to get them to vote for your manor.
Also on the MySpace page is a Q&A for parents and teachers, lest they fear Rupert Murdoch wants to drink the blood of our nation’s young. As if he’d admit it.
