In-Tents Questioning: Creamfields - Hamish Law

Hamish Law (on the right in the picture) is a marketing executive from Oxford… but don’t hold that against him. When he’s not wearing suits and looking important, he’s a secret cider-swigging dance fiend. Here’s his view of Creamfields 2007 (or what he can remember of it…)
1. Kindly tell us your name, age and where you’re from. Now.
Hamish Law, 24, from Oxford.
2. Which festival have you recently attended?
Creamfields.
3. Have you attended this festival before? If yes, how does this year compare?
Yes for the last 2 years. This was by far the best one yet!
4. Which act gave the best performance, and why?
It has to be The Chemical Brothers’ unbelievable laser and video display – and the music wasn’t bad either…
5. If you could have promoted one act on the bill to headline status, who would you choose? Why?
The Chemical Brothers were already there.
6. Did your opinion of any acts change radically as a result of their performance?
I didn’t know exactly what to expect of Groove Armada before the event but their performance was amazing – they’ve definitely gone up in my opinion as a result.
7. Nicest surprise / biggest disappointment (music-related or otherwise)?
The nicest surprise had to be seeing the Swedish House Mafia at the end of the night/morning. Seeing Axwell, Sebastian Ingrosso & Steve Angelo all DJ at the same time whilst drinking a warm cup of tea at 5am was unbelievable!
8. What was the best heckle you heard?
Didn’t hear any because people were too busy dancing – it wasn’t really the type of place that people heckle.
9. Any high-quality onstage banter you feel deserves highlighting?
Mark Ronson had great banter – it involved a few too many expletives to write here though…
10. What was the funniest moment (music-related or otherwise)?
Hearing that the police made organisers turn down the speaker volume in the tents - even though the event was in the middle of nowhere.
11. Weirdest moment (if different)?
Seeing a 30ft high visual of a creepy old clown head miming the lyrics of the Chemical Brothers on the main stage.
12. Any moments of sheer terror you’d like to share?
The bus ride back was pretty hairy.
13. Anything you wish you’d brought with you?
A spare set of legs & feet - mine were hurting sooooooo much towards the end!
14. Anything you wish you’d left behind?
Nope.
15. Please mark the following elements out of 10, with any comments:
General facilities: 8/10
Crowd / audience: 9/10
Food and drink value for money: 5/10
16. Finally – anything else you’d like to mention?
Nope.
Thanks for taking part in our humble questionnaire. Your place in heaven is assured (assuming you haven’t previously murdered anyone).
