Isle of Wight Festival: In-Tents Questioning
In-Tents Questioning, Music News
Emma Abrook went to the Isle of Wight festival this year, and on her return she agreed to answer our probing questions. The picture you see is not of Emma. It is of Matt Bellamy of Muse and his funny silver guitar. Just to clear that up.
1. Kindly tell us your name, age and where you’re from. Now.
Emma Abrook. 27. Isle Of Wight.
2. Which festival have you recently attended?
Isle of Wight 2007.
3. Have you attended this festival before? If yes, how does this year compare?
Yes, and it wasn’t as good as previous years. Organisation was poor.
4. Which act gave the best performance, and why?
Muse. Incredible musical range and stunning stage set-up.
5. If you could have promoted one act on the bill to headline status, who would you choose? Why?
Groove Armada – always get the crowd going with “Super Stylin’”!
6. Did your opinion of any acts change radically as a result of their performance?
Yes, Muse. Only knew a few tracks beforehand, but their whole performance was great.
7. Nicest surprise / biggest disappointment (music-related or otherwise)?
Nicest surprise was Amy Winehouse – she’s not just a nutjob after all! Biggest disappointment was the number of fake tickets.
9. Any high-quality onstage banter you feel deserves highlighting?
None. Last year Chris Martin was surprisingly funny.
10. What was the funniest moment (music-related or otherwise)?
My cousin’s friend declaring that he thought House Of Pain’s “Jump Around” was by Right Said Fred!
12. Any moments of sheer terror you’d like to share?
Being genuinely scared watching Doctor Who at 2am… That’s sad, isn’t it?!
13. Anything you wish you’d brought with you?
Nope.
14. Anything you wish you’d left behind?
Yes. The mild food poisoning that made me ill on the Sunday.
15. Please mark the following elements out of 10, with any comments:
General facilities:
7/10. Lots of drinking points and toilets not too bad
Crowd / audience:
9/10. Lovely and friendly as usual. Welcome to the I.O.W festival!
Food and drink value for money:
7/10. Pretty good for a festival. I recommend the tempura!
16. Finally – anything else you’d like to mention?
The I.O.W is a fab, laidback festival. But next year please open the gates earlier!
Thanks for taking part in our humble questionnaire. Your place in heaven is assured (assuming you haven’t previously murdered anyone).
