Melt! Festival blighted by bad weather, ticketing problems, lack of narcotics
I was supposed to go to Melt! Festival in Germany at the weekend, but couldn’t make it in the end. I haven’t found much written about the event, but the two-part review at bodytonicmusic.com has left me pretty glad I didn’t attend.
Firstly, no drugs. Honestly. Look, festival organisers, if you can’t provide lots of yummy crackpills, don’t bother opening the gates. Secondly, it sounds like the weather can cause a fair amount of bother on mainland Europe as well here in Blighty.
And thirdly, as acknowledged in an admirably prompt post-festival press release, some punters had to wait an unreasonable amount of time to receive their wristbands. This was partly the result of a flood of forged and “faulty” tickets.
The bodytonic.com writer left on the Sunday, after the rain caused huge puddles and damage to the site led to pauses due to safety worries. He notes: “Bjork is playing a festival on a lake underneath a full moon yet still people would rather split than wait for that. If a festival can make you that unenthusiastic about an experience like that, then it’s really screwed up somehow.”

i had a great time. and people always find what they’re looking for if they look hard enough. review will be up eventually on my blog.
