Scarborough holds free Acoustic Gathering

Tom-Hingley.jpgLast year, the Acoustic Gathering, held in Peasholm Park, Scarborough, was a rousing success, which sees the event returning for a second year. The free one day festival takes place on Sunday 16th September and will feature performances from four headline acts, and a number of local groups and musicians.

For free, you get to see Tom Hingley, former crooner in The Inspiral Carpets, as well as Chris Helme, Tasmin Archer (remember her?) , Hayley Hutchinson, Alastair Schmuck & The Pieces, Carl Woodford, Tom Townsend & Jesse Hutchinson, and Mezzo Soprano vocalist Victoria Wright. There will be 22 acts in all, performing from the bandstand on the lake under the gaze of the gloriously rebuilt pagoda. Free you say? Great stuff!

Rise against racism this weekend features Kelis, The Holloways and Jamelia

kelis.jpg

Where can you see Kelis, The Holloways and Jamelia for free? Rise Against Racism, which takes place this Sunday (15th July) in Finsbury Park, London.

It's quite a coup for the festival organisers to book Kelis - after all, Jamelia's milkshakes don't bring quite so many boys to the yard, do they? Because, guess what, Kelis's are better than yours ...

Happening this weekend: Middlesbrough Music Live (it's free!)

twang.gif

If you happen to be in the Teesside area this weekend you would be a fool - a fool, I say! - not to check out this year's Middlesbrough Music Live. Apparently funded entirely by the local council (are you reading, Barnet?) the free one-day event has a tradition of featuring soon-to-be-huge acts; recent years have seen Razorlight, Keane and Editors grace the stage.
