Glastonbury lineup news: MIA goes MIA, Bjork / Antony & The Johnsons rumour

antonyhegarty.gifThe combined out-thereness of Bjork and Antony and the Johnsons' Antony Hegarty might prove a little too much for the more refreshed Glasto revellers, but there's a possibility they may perform together during her Friday night set according to this story on NME.com. Ms Guðmundsdóttir also talks about spiritual hooliganism or something, although you're never sure with Bjork whether she was just misheard by the reporter.

Meanwhile it's MIA by name, MIA by nature (come on, I had to) as the much-admired Brit / Sri-Lankan hip-hop artist has cancelled her Friday night performance, with no reason given as yet.

Glastonbury roundup: Eavis honoured, Libertines reunion rumours, mud management measures, Glastonbury weather-check, tent recycling...

carlbarat.gifWith just a few days to go until Glasto, the rumour-mill is cranking up good and proper. NME have reported today that, after Pete Doherty and Carl Barat collaborated on a Beatles cover at the weekend, and seeing as both their current bands will be performing at Glasto, they could reunite onstage at the 177,000 sellout festival. It wouldn't be the first time they've performed live together this year - a gig at the Hackney Empire in April saw Barat join Doherty for a few songs.

Meanwhile, Michael Eavis CBE has been speaking about the measures he and his team have taken to try and minimise any mud problems at this year's event. Approximately £750,000 has been spent on new drainage pipes and resurfacing work in an effort to avoid the kind of mudbaths that have almost come to epitomise the event.

So just who is playing Glasto this year?

glasto.jpgWe all know that Glastonbury took a year off in 2006 so obviously, this years festival will need to come back with a bang. The dates of the Glasto 2007 are confirmed as 22-24th June, with the gates opening on Wednesday 20th June.

Now that all the tickets are sold (and the official word is that no more tickets sales will take place) who will the lucky punters be watching? As ever, the line-up has been guarded closely, but that hasn't stopped the rumour mill sending out the odd signal with everyone from Bjork to The Who to Shirley Bassey being muttered about. Read over to see who's who...
