The summer is over and festival season has officially come to an end. Now it's time for you to vote, which Festival was the highlight of your summer! The UK Festival Awards will be taking place in Central London (where else?) on November 6th and is the industry’s only awards voted for solely by the people who really matter – the fans. Although it's unclear whether those that matter - the fans - are allowed in.

With so many festivals to choose from brace yourself for a hard decision. There are over 20 categories to vote in this year, including Best New Festival so it’s not all about the big guns. The UK has arguably the most vibrant festival scene in the world, and it is time to honour those who made this year a little more special. As well as making a difference to the festival scene, your vote will also qualify you for an exclusive money-can’t-buy prize draw to win a pair of tickets to every winning festival in 2008! Residents call for T in the Park licence revoke

Irate residents living near T In The Park have called for the festival to have its license revoked. This follows after huge traffic delays on the opening day of the Scottish festival due to heavy flooding, which left both motorists and residents stranded. Despite thousands of revellers eventually enjoying the Scottish festival, locals say they became "prisoners in their own homes".

A deluge of rain blighted the opening day, forcing site car parks to close and causing huge tailbacks which clogged the surrounding villages. T In The Park organisers have admitted there were serious problems but claim they were caused by elements beyond their control. Nontheless, furious residents around Balado have demanded compensation and called for T In The Park to be axed or moved to a new location, according to the Tayside and Fife Courier.

- Despite experiences like those detailed here at this year's event, the early tickets for T In The Park 2008 have sold like hot tatty scones

Festivals round-up: T In The Park, Roskilde, Oxegen - further spirits undampened, exhausted Winehouse visits pub shocker

It's been another weekend of festival action and maybe a few light showers. Let's see how it all went, shall we?

- Amy Winehouse's pesky bout of exhaustion forced her to pull out of T In The Park. Guess she must have been feeling a bit better by Saturday night, since I know at least two people who saw her boozing it up in Camden pubs with her hubby (and some pals who were on the pink Lambrini)

- Rain, mud, traffic. They seem to be recurring themes this year, and T In The Park was no exception. Sadly some people had to be turned away on Friday evening

- Snow Patrol's keyboardist almost missed their show because he had been residing in a jail cell

Somewhat downbeat Festivals round-up: Live Earth backlash, T in the Park spirits predictably undampened

- Is it just me, or does the tide seem to have turned against Live Earth somewhat? The Rio event was cancelled... then un-cancelled, amongst claims that it has been under-promoted

- Meanwhile Forbes is the latest publication to do the whole "Just How Green Is Live Earth?" thing... and Arctic Monkeys admit that their absence from the bill is because they would see their participation as hypocritical given their shows' production requirements. Unlike Madonna, presumably...

- And to top it all off, the New York event isn't even bloody in New York!

- T in the Park looks like getting off to a wet start, but guess what? It won't dampen anyone's spirits (I swear that is the 382nd time I've seen that cliche used in the last month). Police at the event are appealing to cokeheads to spurn their nose candy for ethical - as opposed to legal - reasons. Good luck with that, rozzers

- As we mentioned yesterday, Fflam has been postponed; now the organisers are indulging in a touch of damage limitation as they try and find new dates for the three-day event

Festivals round-up: Oxegen survival guide, Guilfest movie, Live Earth debutants, T in the Park weather, new Latitude stage

So many fests, so little time. If you're going to any of the below events here are some nuggets to nibble on:

Going to T in the Park? Moblog it into our eyes!

The My Chemical Toilet moblog is looking mighty unloved right now, readers. Why, it hasn't been updated since Glastonbury a couple of weeks ago, when we received the marvellous snap you see to your right. So if you happen to be going to T in the Park this weekend why not share the fun and drop us an MMS? It's pretty simple:

T In The Park Preview - Arctic Monkeys, Bloc Party, Lily Allen head to Perth & Kinross

Balado, Perth and Kinross are getting ready for some serious mud action this weekend as the sold out T In The Park returns to the area. For the first time, the event is stretched over three days – though be warned you’ll only be allowed access to the Friday night if you’ve got a weekend camping pass.

So what can you expect? Well, sludge for one – as the nasty weather that has been plaguing the UK over the last few days is set to continue. No worries though – in a year of firsts there’ll be on-site showers and lockers for your stuff.

T is going more than a little green this year. Those who can be arsed can make 10p a pop collecting and returning cups and you can even recycle your tent! Plus there’ll be a Healthy T area, where you can gorge yourself on things like chickpeas and mungbeans (I imagine) and watch demonstrations by top chefs… if you’re not too busy watching the bands that is.

Oh yes right, the bands! T organisers have just announced a few final additions. The Bravery will grace the Radio 1 / NME stage, Ross Copperman will brave the Pet Sounds Arena and the King Tut’s Tent line-up will be boosted by Jamie Scott & The Town.

T In The Park security increased

If you’re heading to T In The Park this weekend, you can’t have failed to notice that after recent events, Britain’s terror threat level is currently at critical. But don’t worry, organisers have made allowances.

A quote from organisers on the official website says: “We have taken into account recent events and have reviewed all of our practices and realigned these where appropriate to ensure that safety is paramount, as always.”

So what does this ‘realigning’ mean, in layman’s terms? Well… be prepared for a bit of a wait. The quote continues:

“These increased security measures could result in some delays when arriving at the event, particularly at the car parks and entrances and we would ask all the fans to be patient and bear with us.”

To aid security, keep your details with you. You’ll need your ticket on you at all times and your wristband if you’re camping. As organisers say: “Security checks will be in place all weekend.” You know it makes sense!

Anyone who has medicine e.g. for diabetes, needs to declare it and have a prescription matching their ID. Oh, and don’t bring booze in glass bottles or attempt to start a campfire. It’s all common sense really!

T In The Park - New acts worth a listen include New Young Pony Club, Shiny Toy Guns and Milk Teeth

T In The Park returns this weekend with a huge slice of brand spanking newness on two dedicated stages. Alongside the Futures Stage which is mainly for new-but-recognisable bands, there is also a slot for real newbies on the T Break stage – which promises “the superstars of tomorrow.”

This year’s Futures line up boasts up-and-coming artists like Kate Nash, Ghosts and Air Traffic, but also recommended are some of the less well-known acts.

New Young Pony Club (pictured) sound a little bit Moloko-esque, with some synthesizers thrown in (played by a lady! Gasp!). The lead singer’s pretty foxy and they boast an excellently named website (wearepony.com)

LA newcomers Shiny Toy Guns also have a lady on the vocals, though Carah is ably assisted by guitarist Chad. There’s a smattering of Dubstar and Hellogoodbye about them, but I imagine this is what the latter would sound like if they had Debbie Harry as a frontwoman. Worth a look / listen!

Final tip: Milk Teeth. London boys Simon, Alex and Al sound like the spawn of the Foo Fighters and The Eagles. It shouldn’t work, but it does. Listen out for Cold Climate, a real singalong crowd pleaser.

Festivals Update: Spice Girls sad to miss Diana concert, The Guardian guide to boutique festivals, possible T in the Park travel chaos

- The Spice Girls wanted to reform in time for the Diana Memorial Concert this weekend, but conflicting schedules would not allow it

- A rail strike is threatening travel chaos for the opening day of T In The Park

- The Istanbul leg of Live Earth has been cancelled due to lack of funds. Don't worry though, Turkish people - they're putting up big tellies for you to watch

- The Guardian has a handy guide to "boutique" festivals today - it includes Green Man, Wakestock and The Secret Garden Party

- Preston won't let a little thing like divorce get in the way of performing at Kent Music Festival this weekend, the trooper

- Underworld will headline Wild In The Country this weekend - you can read an interview with them here

Up-and-coming festival stars: Ghosts

Every year there are a few acts whose popularity skyrockets on the back of a few well-placed festival appearances. The Feeling did pretty well out them last year, and this year Ghosts are being tipped by many to repeat the trick.

Not that it should be considered a trick really - they write catchy, perky pop tunes which translate well to live performances. Their first single proper, "Stay The Night" cracked the top 30, but if there's any justice their second, "The World Is Outside" should prove a massive summer hit. It will sound amazing in the great outdoors on a sunny day - I just hope it gets enough airplay for folk to recognise it.

T in the Park announce more tickets

T in the Park, held at Balado, nr Kinross in Scotland, and now a three day festival happening from Friday 6th to Sunday 8th July, has announced that more tickets will go on sale at the end of the week.

There will be approximately 1,000 tickets per day, for both the Saturday and the Sunday. These tickets have been recouped through a number of sources such as the cancellation of multiple booking and resold tickets. They will now be put back on sale to genuine music fans at 9am on Friday 8th June.

Tickets are priced at £62.50. Check back here on Friday at 9am and we'll have links to buy tickets. Note there will be no tickets available to purchase in person.

Geoff Ellis of DF Concerts said "We are delighted to be able to put these extra tickets on sale, especially as it will give music fans another chance to attend the festival if they didn’t get tickets the first time round. The Ticketmaster system that cancels multiple bookings is another way of continuing the fight against ticket touts and therefore protecting genuine music fans"

T in the Park has a T Break

T in the Park, being held at Balado, nr Kinross in Scotland (Friday 6th to Sunday 8th July) has announced the acts for the T Break Stage.

48 up and coming Scottish bands were given the chance to showcase themselves to a panel of industry judges, made up of Tennent’s partners in the event at DF Concerts, Radio 1, the Sunday Herald, PRS and Fopp, as well as other key industry figures. Twelve bands won through, and get to appear on the same bill as Snow Patrol and The Killers at T in the Park 2007. The bands are Tokyoblu, Chutes, Cryoverbillionaires, Over the Wall, Down the Tiny Steps, Broken Records, V-2 Schneider, Dance Lazarus Dance, Yashin, The Little Kicks, Theatre Fall, and The Moth and the Mirror.

T in the Park announced earlier this year that for the first time ever, the T in the Park arena will open on Friday evening for campers. It's now confirmed that the T Break Stage will be one of just three stages open on the Friday evening, meaning that a further 4 slots on the T Break Stage will be available to four highly commended bands, with these bands being announced next week.
