Roy Jones, Jr's "Battle Of The Superpowers" is actually very respectful to Joe Calzaghe

There's a big punching match tomorrow night, with Joe Calzaghe from Wales heading over to Madison Square Garden to do some boxing on Roy Jones, Jr. In return, Jones will do some boxing back. That's how the sport of boxing works. Rappers don't get much more naughty than men who hit each other in the face repeatedly for the entertainment of the masses.

Jones has released albums and singles previously, but this tune seems more like an ad for HBO's fight coverage than a single in itself. Since it's a hip-hop tune you'd be within your rights to expect some mega-dissing to be in order, but actually it's very respectful to Calzaghe. Is that what happens when older people rap? A little decency enters the equation?

Don't worry though, there's still the odd out-of-proportion metaphor, like: "Roy fights harder than the people of Waco," proclaimed by Roy himself. The track itself is kind of like DMX rapping on a T.I track, and could indeed be much worse. Just a shame it's surfaced so late in the pre-fight proceedings, since it leaves Calzaghe little time to assemble a Welsh male voice choir for a reposte.
